About Dr. K. B. Joshi

Dr. K. B. Joshi, originally from the Dev Bhoomi region of Almora, Uttarakhand, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Dr. Harisingh Gour Central University, Sagar, India. He obtained his M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry from M.B.G.P.G. College, Haldwani (Kumaun University, Nainital), and completed his Ph.D. in 2008 from IIT Kanpur under the supervision of Prof. Sandeep Verma (https://home.iitk.ac.in/~sverma/). In recognition of the excellence of his doctoral research, he was awarded the prestigious Eli Lilly Asia Outstanding Thesis Award (2009). Following his Ph.D., Dr. Joshi carried out postdoctoral research as an Alexander von Humboldt (AvH) Research Fellow and subsequently as a Senior Postdoctoral Fellow at Goethe University Frankfurt, Germany, in the research group of Prof. Dr. Alexander Heckel (https://www.photochem.uni-frankfurt.de/). He was later awarded the Faculty Recharge Fellowship by UGC, New Delhi, and served as an Assistant Professor at Panjab University, Chandigarh, before joining his current institution in 2013. Dr. Joshi’s research focuses on organic synthesis, peptide- and DNA-based self-assembly, nanotechnology, medicinal chemistry, and chemical biology, with a strong emphasis on the design and development of functional biomolecular systems for advanced biomedical applications. His work integrates rational molecular design with advanced characterization techniques to create innovative nanostructured materials. He possesses extensive expertise in solid-phase synthesis of polyamides and nucleic acid aptamers, nucleic acid engineering, and light-responsive molecular systems. Dr. Joshi has published several high-impact research articles in reputed international journals. In addition to his research contributions, he is deeply committed to teaching and mentoring, actively contributing to undergraduate and postgraduate education and the training of young researchers.
